What we collect

• Questionnaire: the answers you choose, plus your email address and name if you give one.
• Profiles and listings: the details you publish (city, budget, lifestyle preferences, photos, description) and a contact email or phone number you keep private in your account.
• Messages: the conversations you have with other members inside Ilafia.
• Account: your sign-in email and basic technical data such as the time of your visit.

What is public and what is not

• Public: the content of your roommate profile or listing — city, budget, lifestyle tags, description and photos. Treat this as visible to anyone on the internet.
• Never public: your email address, phone number, questionnaire answers, private messages and account details.
• Other members contact you through Ilafia messages. Your email and phone are only shared if you choose to type them into a message.

How we use your information

• To run the service: show your listing or profile, deliver your messages and power the AI matchmaker that suggests roommates who fit your preferences.
• To improve Ilafia: your questionnaire answers help us decide which cities and features come next. We report on them in grouped, anonymous form.
• To email you: only if you ticked the consent box. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can ask us to stop at any time.

Your consent and your choices

• Ticking a consent box is how you agree to a specific use — publishing your profile, or receiving community emails. You can withdraw either at any time.
• You can edit or delete your profile and listings from your account, and ask us to delete your questionnaire answers and email from our list.
• Withdrawing consent does not affect anything we did before you withdrew it.

Sharing and storage

• We do not sell your information and we do not share it with landlords, agents or advertisers.
• We use trusted service providers to host the platform, store data and send email on our behalf. They may only process your data for us.
• Your data is kept for as long as your account is active, or until you ask us to delete it.

Safety reminder

• Never send money, bank details or identity documents through chat to someone you have not met and verified.
• Report suspicious behaviour to us and we will investigate and remove accounts that break our rules.
